Antibodies

Aka immunoglobulins.

They track and fight antigens, bacteria, viruses and other external aggressors.

Five types:

Immunoglobulin A (IgA),

Immunoglobulin D (IgD),

Immunoglobulin E (IgE),

Immunoglobulin G (IgG),

Immunoglobulin M (IgM),

Contractile proteins

Aka motor proteins,

They are responsible of muscle contractions and movements.

Two main contractile proteins : Actins and myosins.

Enzymes

They accelerate the buildup of chemical substances necessary to life from organisms.

Fact:

Only one enzyme was found to be not a protein, which is ribozyme, an RNA derived molecule.

Other facts:

There are around 75,000 enzymes in the body...

Hormonal proteins

They are transmitters.

Example of hormonal proteins:

- Insulin,

- Prolactin.

Fact:

Testosterones and estrogens are not hormonal proteins, they are steroid hormones (Made of cholesterol and lipid structures).

Structural proteins

Fibrous, they insure healthy framework for bones, skin, hair, nails and cartilages.

Example of structural proteins:

- Collagen,

- Elastin,

- Keratin.

Receptor proteins

They control substances that enter and leave the cells.

Storage proteins

They are the garage of mineral ions mainly.

Example of storage proteins:

- Casein,

- Ferritin,

- Ovalbumin.

Transport proteins

They transport molecules from a place to another place.

Example of transport proteins:

- Albumin,

- Calbindin.
